Well, today, i came back early from school... quite uneventful anywayz... so i thought mayb i should juz kick back at home today...

Spent around half an hour on Wiki..... before i got a pleasant interruption.....

So yeah...
I was looking thru the definition of my name...

Well, first off, i was examining my name's Chinese Character....

My chinese surname.... is defined as to express gratitude.... n my genetic line... is about 2675 years old..... damn..... thru more research.... i discovered tht... the word is actually made out of two other characters... whch is... words... and shoot.... interesting...

亮

The second word... means radiant... or to shine.... or a source of light or illumination.... damn... tht sounds good....

N my personal favorite

The character symbololizes a sudden flash of lightning... something unexpected and overwhelming.... or in other words.....

BLITZ

N then.... we move to my other name... the western name.... note tht i used the word western.. n not christian.. like many ppl wld call it... may i please remind all of u who use the term tht it was used by the Greeks, the Latins and even the Romans a long time before any prophet walked the earth....

so yeah

my western name ......

originates from the Greek language... meaning.... ironically...
'To honor God'

damn..... seriously... i cant believe i end up liking the definition of my chinese name more thn my western one...

Recognition

Recognition...

It's the driving force tht push humans to exceed themselves....

It comes in many forms... wth the most rare being historical recognitions where only the greatest members of our species--Darwin , Newton, Einstein-- hav achieved, to the most common of aell recognition, Self recognition....

I believe throughout my life, i have worked and strived for all the different recognitions... (yes, even historical)...

I remember one particular memory...

When i was in Standard one, i worked so hard for my exams....... not becoz of self recognition... or even the recognition of my parents... it was for my uncle... day after day, he wld take me to tuition, help me wth my homework, fetch me to school and at times, evn from school, even though he had to work....

All i wanted to do was to show him that all tht he did was not in vain....

So... bcoz of tht... for the first of the two times in my life... i scored perfects (100%) for all my exam....

As expected, i got praises frm my peers and teachers... my mum, who was so dang happy, bought me ice cream and a VHS tape for me... n my dad who gave a slight compliment n told me tht i shld start studying for the next one tomorrow...-__-... n my aunts who gave me money as an incentive..

Though all of them made me feel kinda nice, it still cldnt amount to the appreciation i felt whn i told my uncle....

I cld even remember it till this day... i showed him my papers while he was watching TV... Whn he saw my grades, he smiled bck at me...said good job and pat me on the bck.... N gave me RM 5... Though the amount was vastly lower thn wht my mom and my aunts got me... I valued it more thn all the other thgs... I remember stuffing it into my piggy bank... n smilin the entire day....

So.. yeah... i guess wht i m tryin to say is tht.. we do thgs to get appreciation from specific sources... though othr sources may play a part, they dont really matter as much as the targeted source....so yeah... recognition....

Craving

Its 1 in the morning.... my head hurts.... n i hav no idea why i m awake....

The past one hour just flew by like it was no one's business....

I crave knowledge.... information.....

Room Rendenzvous

I was looking thru a few anime art galleries of Kare Kano...which use to be one of the few animes whch i loved to watch back before i was American-ized....

The story is juz like any other typical romance story... girl is the best student in her class till one day, smart guy shows up and beats her in what she does... N both of them, being the main protagonist, happens to be hella good looking...

She hates him at first, but as they get to know each other, animosity gradually morphs into fondness which in turn morphs into love...


The show chronicles the daily life of Arima and Yukino.... from the times of confrontation and competition, to the day they confessed their love for one another....

So yeah....

A trip down memory lane.... to my chinkier days....

It aint so bad i guess.... i'll be chinky once again once i arrive bck on the Motherland on July 1st...

Guilty pleasures

I was going to do a post on an interesting quote tht my math professor told me this morning, but then, i thght this wld be more interesting... LOL

So yeah, in the Lexus, A gave a weird look when the sound waves vibrated against his eardrum. E was already bursting in laughter.... Amidst the Rock and Rap songs, E had found R's secret stash..And as immediate as a reflex, A immediately question why R had those songs in his Ipod.... R juz smiled bck at him, acknowledging his guilty pleasure.... E didnt even care abt the conversation, he was already singing nostalgically to the forbidden tunes..... N pretty soon, R was singing too... not caring about what A or E thought of him... they were after all his close frenz, and he couldn't care less if they knew abt his guilty pleasure.... n indeed a pleasure it was.... n bsides, at tht time... he felt larger than life...

N seeing how everyone else in the Lexus was going against social norms.... A finally submitted to the melody and started singing too.... revealing his guilty pleasure...and saying bye bye bye to the guilt... n pop came the pleasure

N during tht 15 minute drive.... the 3 ppl hummed and sang to the melodies... unperturbed by the societal guilt that they were suppose to feel...bcoz they liked it tht way. Indeed a guilty pleasure...

Chinese New Year

So.... Chinese New Year has come and go...

And unlike last year where i spent CNY hanging around wth white frenz n doing nothg Chinese like... i spent this year doing all sorts of chinky activities tht wld make any chinky person proud... LOL...

So... my CNY eve started with a live webcam bck to Home Office.... at 4am in the mornin.. quite a feat i must say.... Got to talk to evryone... n i got to see all the food... damn... seriously... i wish i was bck home... all the food..... N yeah, here's a pic wth me webcamming wth my aunt...

Thn it was off to David's place.... Juz casual hangout and chillin while playing guitar hero on the PS2.... Very un-CNY like... David is local btw... bt techinically, i did wish his parents a happy CNY....so it was kinda chinky...

Next up i was off to Zun's place.... Chilled arnd with the gang.... Eric looked hella happy tht day for some reason.. perhaps it was after his ochem exam n all... LOL

Next... i was off to Nigel's couz place... whr we were joined by Sharon n Gab and we had 'Tuan Yuan Fan' together.... the food was excellent... As u can see...

After dinner, i spent the rest of the night and some parts of the morning battlefielding at Nigel's place... It's so fun!! LOL.. CNY eve battlefielding.... hmmm.. not so chinky at all...

N to top the day off... i got a police ticket for not signaling while changing lanes... damn malaysian habits are so hard to kill... i get a 'Malaysian' point for tht..

So yeah... in the end... it was a pretty unorthodox, somewhat chinky, a bit Malaysian, and all in all memorable CNY.....

PS: i had company this CNY too... so... yeah... memorable....=)

TESLA PROGRAM

It is finally done.... After months of planning, the Tesla program has been approved by the ICC board and is now receiving full funding from the College Senate... It won't be long now till we can finally generate lightning...

After pulling a few strings and a bit of lobbying on my part, the Tesla Coil program was passed by the Board with no opposition... As of now, the ETC is recieving full funding from the Senate, and also full support from the Auto-Tech Department, Engineering Department and the College maintainence department and campus security.... A fine feat of organization and politics... The ETC is scheduled to fire the coil up on the 8th week... Lightning generation with 15,000 Volts output....I m feeling so mad scientist like.... =)



One of the few precision machinery that you get from having good relations with the engineering department.... six axles... *drools*

Well, its been a pretty normal day this has been....

The engineering club's Tesla Coil Program has been approved and will get voted on Wednesday..
Politicking and lobbying will pretty much ensure that the bill will go through no problem.

So me n my frenz were studyin in the library, peacefully albeit a bit stressfully ....
Well... u knw how boring it gets... till suddenly... we were treated to a free show...

The guy and girl 2 tables away suddenly started making out...

I spotted it first... and quickly alerted my pals to draw their attention to... the girl who was sucking the guys middle finger with a seductive look...

Wht followed was kissin, french kissin, necking, ear biting, raba-ing and numerous other erotic activities whch shld not be done in a college library in front of ppl....

N worst of all, they were not attractive....
